Partnership in Action: U.S. Chamber, AmCham Ghana and GIPA Deliver Landmark U.S.–Ghana Presidential Roundtable

New York, 23 September 2026 — Close collaboration between the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Ghana and the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) helped deliver a high-impact U.S.–Ghana Presidential Roundtable featuring H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, at Nasdaq MarketSite on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Hosted by the U.S. Chamber’s U.S.–Africa Business Center, the programme opened with President Mahama ringing the Nasdaq Closing Bell, a live-broadcast moment symbolising the strength of economic ties between the two countries. AmCham Ghana CEO Doris Kafui Afanyedey joined the President on the podium alongside U.S. Chamber and Nasdaq leadership and lead sponsors Chevron and Areva Pharmaceuticals.

Three institutions, complementary roles

  • U.S. Chamber of Commerce convened the event and drew senior executives from more than 25 leading companies, including Caterpillar, Citi, ExxonMobil, Google, Mastercard, Microsoft, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, UPS and Visa. Kendra Gaither, President of the U.S.–Africa Business Center, and Dr. Guevera Yao, Vice President, led the programme.
  • GIPA, led by CEO Simon Madjie, presented the Invest in Ghana case to the room, framing the investment opportunities behind the President’s keynote.
  • AmCham Ghana brought the on-the-ground perspective of U.S. companies operating in Ghana and was invited to deliver the first commentary in the open discussion, focusing on implementation: priority sectors, sequencing of reforms and practical ways for U.S. companies to partner with Government.

A strong Government of Ghana presence

The President was accompanied by a senior delegation including Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; Ghana’s Ambassador to the U.S., Victor Smith; and Minister of State in Charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and other senior Government officials, giving executives direct access to decision-makers.

What it means for members

The Roundtable demonstrated how coordinated engagement between U.S. and Ghanaian institutions can create direct channels between investors and Government. For AmCham Ghana members, the Roundtable strengthens direct channels to Government and to GIPA, and raises the profile of Ghana-based businesses with U.S. investors and headquarters. It also creates new connections with leading U.S. companies and gives members clearer insight into Government priorities, including the 24-Hour Economy and export-led industrial growth.

AmCham Ghana Joins World Cleanup Day Effort at Ananse Beach

The American Chamber of Commerce Ghana (AmCham Ghana), led by the Manager for Membership, External Relations and Special Projects, Jane Okyere-Aduachie joined Mayekoo Foundation and Let’s Do It Ghana on 19 September 2026 for a World Cleanup Day beach cleanup at Ananse Beach, Nungua, bringing together businesses, community members, institutions, civil society organizations and individual volunteers around a shared commitment to protecting Ghana’s coastline.

The cleanup mobilized 576 volunteers, who collectively removed 51.2 tons of waste and marine debris from the beach in a single day. The waste included recyclable plastic bottles, fishing nets, wood, non-recyclable plastics, and other debris that had accumulated along the coastline.

AmCham Ghana’s participation demonstrated the important role businesses can play in supporting practical environmental action. By joining the cleanup, AmCham members contributed their time and resources to a community-led effort addressing the growing challenge of coastal waste and promoting greater responsibility for the environments in which communities live and businesses operate.

The activity also formed part of Mayekoo’s wider coastal restoration work, which focuses on sustained restoration, community participation and partnerships to improve the condition of Ghana’s beaches. The collaboration with Let’s Do It Ghana reflects the value of bringing together the private sector, civil society and communities around environmental challenges that require collective action.
The results at Ananse Beach showed what is possible when organizations work together with a common purpose. While the removal of 51.2 tons of waste represents a significant one-day effort, continued collaboration and sustained coastal management will be essential to maintaining these gains and building healthier, cleaner and more resilient coastal communities.
