AmCham Ghana Joins U.S.–Africa Business Leaders at Abidjan Summit to Advance Regional Trade and Investment

This past week, the U.S.-Africa Business Center led a delegation of U.S. business leaders and all West Africa AmChams to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for the AmCham Business Summit in conjunction with the Africa CEO Forum. AmCham Ghana actively participated in the forum’s events, engaged in vital consultations with regional leaders, and held productive meetings with partners at the African Development Bank.
Demonstrating strong collaboration, the U.S.-Africa Business Center, in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Côte d’Ivoire, also organized a compelling side event exploring the “New Paradigm for U.S. Business Partnerships with Africa.” Summit speakers included Côte d’Ivoire Ministers of Commerce, Economy, and Energy, Ghana’s Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah; U.S. Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs Ambassador Troy Fitrell, U.S. Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba, and a host of thought leaders from the private sector.

AmCham Ghana and U.S. Delegation Strengthen Investment Ties with GIPC to Unlock Ghana-U.S. Economic Opportunities

In a move to fortify economic partnerships, the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana, in collaboration with a U.S.-Africa Business Center delegation headed by Madam Kendra Gaither, recently engaged with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). This pivotal meeting sought to deepen economic ties between Ghana and the U.S. and uncover significant investment opportunities, aligning with GIPC’s strategic vision for enhanced collaboration.

Conversations primarily addressed joint ventures, capacity building initiatives, and policy advocacy to stimulate greater investment. Ms. Gaither stressed the mutual benefits of a stronger trade and investment relationship, particularly noting the potential for U.S. businesses in Ghana’s technology, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors.

Mr. Simon Madjie, CEO of the GIPC, reciprocated by detailing the Centre’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and championing growth in key areas such as agribusiness, tourism, manufacturing, and energy.

AmCham Ghana Joins Regional Delegation in Abidjan to Strengthen U.S.–West Africa Economic Ties

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana, led by , AmCham Treasurer Mr. Bethel Yeboah, Acting Executive Secretary Jane Okyere-Aduachie, and a member delegation, joined the U.S.-Africa Business Center delegation, which was headed by President Kendra Gaither and Vice President Dr. Guevera Yao. This collaboration included seven West African AmChams: the American Chamber of Commerce in Côte d’Ivoire, the American Business Council Nigeria, the American Chamber of Commerce in Senegal, AMCHAM-MALI, the American Chamber of Commerce in Angola – AmCham – Angola, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Cameroon (AmCham). The event took place at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Abidjan.
Hosted by Ambassador Jessica Davis Bâ, the Welcome Reception brought together an exceptional community of leaders shaping the next chapter of U.S.–West Africa economic relations. From meaningful dialogue to lasting connections, the evening set a powerful tone for the Summit’s next three days of panels, bilateral meetings, and forward-looking collaboration.

U.S. National Bar Association Delegation visit AmCham Ghana Secretariat

On Tuesday, April 8, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, along with the  U.S. National Bar Association (NBA) President Wiley Adams, NBA AfCFTA Initiative co-chairs Barbara Simmons and Johanna LeBlanc, and other members of the delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the secretariat.

The meeting focused on strategic opportunities to exchange insights, explore collaboration, and gain a deeper understanding of AmCham Ghana’s initiatives. Discussions highlighted the Chamber’s key efforts to strengthen U.S.-Ghana business relations, attract investment, and position Ghana as a prime destination for international investors. The National Bar Association (NBA), the nation’s oldest and largest network of predominantly African American attorneys and judges, has signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat to support the effective implementation of the agreement. This landmark partnership reflects the NBA’s ongoing commitment to advancing economic empowerment, legal capacity, and investment opportunities across the African continent.

One of the key pillars of the MoU is to facilitate and encourage increased investments into Africa, aligning with the goals of the AfCFTA to create a unified, prosperous, and sustainable economic bloc.

This engagement marks a significant step in the NBA’s broader mission to serve as a bridge between the U.S. legal and business communities and the emerging opportunities on the African continent.
