Delta Air Lines resumes non-stop flights from Accra to Atlanta

AmCham Ghana joined its Platinum Member, Delta Air Lines, at the Kotoka International Airport for the official launch of the expanded seasonal Accra to Atlanta service.

The expanded service, which complements Delta’s year-round operation from New York JFK, enhances travel flexibility for business and leisure passengers and supports the rising flow of commerce, tourism, and cultural exchange. Remarks from U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson, GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, GCAA Director-General Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, and GTA CEO Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto highlighted the diplomatic, operational, and economic significance of the new connection and reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening Ghana’s role as a regional aviation hub.

The flight, operated on the Airbus A330-900neo, delivers an improved onboard experience across all cabins, including Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main, with seatback entertainment and free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles Members.

The Chamber was represented by CEO Doris Kafui Afanyedey and members of the Secretariat, who participated alongside Delta’s leadership team, headed by Eliona Baddoo, General Manager, Ghana. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the start of the daily flight that will run for six weeks through January 16, introduced in response to strong travel demand between Ghana and the United States during the peak holiday season.

AU Ambassador to the U.S. Visits AmCham Ghana

On the 5th of December 2024, the African Union (AU) Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Hilda Suka-Mafudze, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat. H.E. Hilda Suka-Mafudze met with board members from leading companies, including Delta Air Lines, Coca-Cola, Newmont Corporation, and PwC. The discussions focused on key business challenges in Ghana and across Africa, addressing market mobilization, scaling opportunities, and fostering integration between smaller businesses and larger enterprises.

The Secretariat also highlighted progress on the AfCFTA and AGOA, alongside deliberations on U.S. interests in supporting skilled workforce development to bolster economic growth. The conversation underscored the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable business growth and enhancing regional economic integration.

AmCham Ghana Engages with Delta Air Lines

Delta Introduces State-of-the-Art Airbus A330-900neo on Accra – New York Route

ACCRA: October 2, 2024 – Delta Air Lines proudly introduces the Airbus A330-900neo on its daily nonstop service from Accra to New York-JFK, effective October 2, 2024. This next- generation aircraft increases Delta’s seat capacity by approximately 30% between Ghana and the United States, while elevating the customer experience with enhanced comfort.

Additionally, the aircraft boasts increased cargo capacity to meet rising demand. Delta One Suites feature fully lie-flat seats, luxury bedding, and privacy doors, paired with chef-curated meals and premium beverages. Delta Premium Select offers enhanced comfort with wider seats and additional legroom, while Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin provide spacious seating, memory-foam cushions, and personalized entertainment with over 1,000 hours of content. Delta To Serve Ghana With New Airbus A330-900neo

Delta Air Lines will fly its state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo on nonstop service from Accra to New York-JFK effective 27 October 2024. The new aircraft will add approximately 30% more capacity between Ghana and the United States.

Speaking to journalists at a media roundtable in Accra, Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, said, “Delta has worked to deliver an enhanced travel experience in Ghana. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our A330-900neo aircraft come October, offering exciting new products and services as they travel to and from the United States.”

Matteo used the opportunity to express his gratitude to Delta’s customers, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and the government of Ghana for their continued partnership. The brand-new A330-900neo aircraft will add nearly 1,000 more seats each week between Ghana and the U.S. It offers four distinctive experiences – Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin – and more cargo capacity to cater for growing demand.
