AmCham Ghana Meets with Ray McShane, General Manager of the Accra Marriott Hotel

Earlier today, Thursday, August 13, 2026, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ghana (AmCham Ghana), led by Chief Executive Officer Doris Afanyedey, met with Ray McShane, General Manager of the Accra Marriott Hotel, for a warm and wide-ranging conversation on how the two institutions can grow together. The meeting reflected a shared enthusiasm for Accra’s future, from supporting Chamber roadshows and workshops that connect international investors to the market to a proposed partnership with the University of Ghana in service of its large international student community. New airline links into the city, including an upcoming Etihad Airways route and a codeshare with Africa World Airlines, were welcomed as fresh opportunities to bring more visitors and business through Ghana’s doors.

Beyond logistics, the conversation carried a genuine spirit of partnership: ideas for a member breakfast speaker series, Marriott loyalty benefits for traveling members, and continued support for Chamber networking evenings were all discussed as ways to bring people together. Mr. McShane also spoke with evident pride about efforts to root the hotel more deeply in Ghanaian culture, from local cuisine and hospitality touches to a calendar of cultural festivals planned for the year ahead, an initiative AmCham Ghana looks forward to celebrating and helping to promote. Both sides agreed to formalize this growing friendship through a Memorandum of Understanding, and AmCham Ghana thanks the Accra Marriott Hotel for its hospitality and looks forward to building on today’s conversation for the benefit of its members and the wider business community.
