The American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana (AmCham Ghana), hosted members for the 2025 Welcome Reception & Farewell in honor of Mr. Simon Madjie on Thursday, March 13, 2025, for a special networking and farewell event. The gathering took place at the residence of AmCham Director, Mr. Ashok Mohinani.

This annual networking event serves as a platform for members to connect, unwind, and explore potential business opportunities. This year, we had the distinct honor of welcoming the Presidential Advisor on the Economy, Hon. Seth Terkper, as our Guest Speaker. He participated in a fireside chat moderated by AmCham Board Director Mr. Joe Mensah, where he provided insightful perspectives on the 2024 Budget, the economic landscape, and emerging business opportunities.

The key highlight of the evening was the farewell session for Mr. Simon Madjie. Former AmCham Ghana Presidents, AmCham Ghana Board Members, Acting Executive Secretary, and distinguished members shared heartfelt remarks, expressing their appreciation for his years of dedicated service and leadership. As a token of gratitude, the AmCham Board of Directors presented Mr. Madjie with a commemorative collage celebrating his invaluable contributions to the Chamber. His unwavering commitment and hard work have left a lasting impact, and we will continue to honor his legacy at AmCham Ghana.

American Tower Corporation (ATC) meeting with AmCham Ghana

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, AmCham Treasurer Bethel Yeboah, along with Board Member Mr. Mark Appiah and Acting Executive Secretary Jane Okyere Aduachie, met with representatives from American Tower Corporation (ATC) at the AmCham Secretariat. The meeting focused on discussing the current business environment and exploring opportunities for further development and collaboration.

ATC Ghana is the largest independent owner and operator of shared wireless infrastructure in Ghana. ATC provides towers, in-building systems, power solutions, and services that speed network deployment for the wireless and broadcast communications industry.

Enterprise Life Representatives Present the New Corporate Manager and Provide Policy Updates at the Secretariat

On Friday, January 24, 2025, representatives from Enterprise Life visited the Secretariat to engage with our team and provide valuable insights into their insurance policies. During the visit, they introduced their newly appointed Corporate Manager and outlined a range of insurance solutions tailored to corporate and individual needs. This initiative aimed to encourage our members to explore diverse insurance options that offer financial security and long-term benefits. The meeting fostered a collaborative dialogue on the importance of risk management and comprehensive coverage, reinforcing our commitment to equipping members with essential financial planning resources.

 

Board members of AmCham Ghana paid a visit to H.E. John A. Kufuor

On January 8, 2025, the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce, led by Kimathi Kuenyehia, President of AmCham Ghana, paid a courtesy visit to the former President of Ghana, H.E. John A. Kufuor, at his residence.

The visit served as an opportunity to convey heartfelt appreciation for his invaluable support and to honor his presence at the Chamber’s 35th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner and Awards Night held in late November 2024.

AU Ambassador to the U.S. Visits AmCham Ghana

On the 5th of December 2024, the African Union (AU) Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Hilda Suka-Mafudze, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat. H.E. Hilda Suka-Mafudze met with board members from leading companies, including Delta Air Lines, Coca-Cola, Newmont Corporation, and PwC. The discussions focused on key business challenges in Ghana and across Africa, addressing market mobilization, scaling opportunities, and fostering integration between smaller businesses and larger enterprises.

The Secretariat also highlighted progress on the AfCFTA and AGOA, alongside deliberations on U.S. interests in supporting skilled workforce development to bolster economic growth. The conversation underscored the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable business growth and enhancing regional economic integration.

AmCham Ghana – Johnson & Johnson Prostate Cancer Project Launch

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, AmCham Ghana, in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and SGMC Cancer Center, launched a comprehensive awareness campaign on prostate cancer. The event took place at Fiesta Royal Hotel in Accra.

The campaign aims to educate men about prostate cancer prevention and treatment while fostering a sustainable framework for broader outreach and collaboration. Attendees included a diverse group of police officers, traditional leaders, and health professionals from various facilities in Accra.

As part of the launch, participants were offered free prostate cancer screenings. The initiative also introduced veteran broadcaster and prostate cancer survivor, Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM), as the campaign ambassador. KSM emphasized the importance of regular screening for men over 40, sharing his personal journey to inspire early detection and awareness.

The collaboration underscores the commitment of all partners to address prostate cancer through education, early detection, and inclusive community engagement.

AmCham Ghana Engages with First National Bank

On Thursday, 14th November 2024, Greg Usher, Senior Banker, along with representatives from First National Bank Ghana, visited the Chamber to address critical economic issues. Key topics included the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar, high banking charges, and fees. The discussions also focused on fostering collaboration to strengthen financial ties and enhance economic partnerships between the U.S. and Ghana.

 

AmCham Ghana 35th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner and Awards Night 2024

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana (AmCham Ghana) celebrated its 35th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner & Awards Night 2024 at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme: “Celebrating 35 Years of Growth and Looking into the Future with Great Hope for US-Ghana Commercial Relations

 

This year’s Anniversary Dinner featured keynote remarks from H.E. Virginia Palmer, United States Ambassador to Ghana, and Former President of Ghana, H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor.

During the event, the American Chamber of Commerce Ghana (AmCham Ghana) presented a prestigious Outstanding Special Award to H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor, recognizing his significant contributions to fostering economic cooperation between Ghana and the United States.

The award was presented by Nana Joe Mensah, Senior Vice President & Head of Ghana Business Unit at Kosmos Energy Ghana, alongside H.E. Virginia Palmer, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Kimathi Kuenyehia, President of AmCham Ghana, and Abdul Rahaman Amoadu, Vice President of AmCham Ghana.

The Chamber also unveiled its 35th Anniversary Documentary, which chronicles the dedication of its founding members from U.S. companies in Ghana, their advocacy efforts, and the evolution of AmCham Ghana. The documentary also highlights the contributions of individuals and companies that have played pivotal roles in the Chamber’s growth and the advancement of U.S.-Ghana economic relations.

 

Companies and Individuals that have contributed in diverse ways to the development of the Chamber and the advancement of economic relations between Ghana and the United States were also recognized.

On Friday, November 1, 2024, on the sidelines of the U.S.-Ghana Healthcare Roundtable 2024, the U.S. Commercial Service of the hashtagUSEmbassyinGhana, in collaboration with AmCham Ghana, hosted a roundtable discussion on “Advancing Technology in Healthcare Delivery in Ghana” at the U.S. Embassy.

Key healthcare industry leaders, including representatives from the Ghana Health Service, Zipline, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, USAID, University of Ghana Medical Centre LTD, THE BANK HOSPITAL, and the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, engaged in discussions on the regulatory challenges and obstacles impeding improved healthcare delivery in Ghana. Additionally, Jason Hickey, Head of GoogleResearchAIAccra, and Darlington Akogo, Founder of MinoAI, showcased innovative AI-powered products and systems designed to enhance healthcaredelivery in hashtagGhana.
