Our CEO, Ms. Doris Afanyedey, earlier today hosted Ms. Rachel Kreissl, Senior Commercial Counselor, and Ms. Laurie Kelleher, Commercial Officer at the U.S. Commercial Service (U.S. Embassy Ghana), for a strategic meeting on strengthening U.S.–Ghana commercial relations.

The discussion highlighted the core mandate of the Commercial Service Office and explored ways the Chamber can support and leverage their expertise to create value for our members.

As part of our efforts to facilitate U.S. investment in Ghana, the Chamber also shared plans to establish a Business Helpdesk. This initiative will assist U.S. companies with local registration and industry requirements, providing the guidance needed to navigate the Ghanaian business environment successfully

Google Launches AI Community Center in Ghana With $37M Investment, Deepening U.S.–Africa Tech Collaboration

Accra, Ghana — In a major step toward advancing Africa’s role in global AI development, American technology giant Google has launched its AI Community Center in Accra, backed by a $37 million commitment to support artificial intelligence innovation across the continent.

The initiative is designed to accelerate local research, empower startups in sectors such as healthcare and education, and enable projects focused on crop monitoring and the adaptation of AI tools for African languages. The center will serve as a collaborative hub for developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers working to shape Africa’s digital future.

To mark this milestone, Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology & Innovation, Hon. Sam George, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson joined Google leadership in a launch ceremony in Accra.

“This launch is a powerful example of U.S.–Africa partnership in action,” said Olson. “The United States government is committed to working with trusted industry leaders to deliver secure, full-stack AI solutions—including hardware, models, software, applications, and standards—to our allies around the world.”

The U.S. Embassy in Ghana applauds this investment as a strong testament to the potential of public-private partnerships in driving inclusive, tech-driven growth across Africa.

AmCham Member Visitation to Consolidated Shipping Agencies Ltd (Conship).

As part of the Chamber’s ongoing member engagement efforts, the Acting Executive Secretary paid a courtesy visit to Consolidated Shipping Agencies Limited (Conship) and met with CEO Dr. Macdonald Vasnani at their Swiss Port offices in Airport City. The visit aimed to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for collaboration, while also discussing some of the operational challenges facing the logistics sector, including the rising cost of doing business.

Conship is a proudly Ghanaian-owned logistics company established on February 13, 1996. With nearly 30 years of experience, the company has expanded its presence across Tema, Takoradi, and over 200 global locations. Conship specializes in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, haulage, warehousing, vessel agency, and personal shipping services, and recently opened new offices in Rwanda and Houston, further solidifying its global reach.

AmCham Ghana Joins Launch of Landmark Project to Map Investment Opportunities Across All 261 Districts

The Chamber’s Acting Executive Secretary, Jane Okyere-Aduachie, joined Mr. Simon Madjie, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), at the official launch of the Investment Opportunity Mapping Project (IOMP), a pivotal step in Ghana’s investment drive. The event featured a keynote address by Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, and remarks from Guest Speaker Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness & Industry, who emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth through strategic investment.

The IOMP is a joint initiative between GIPC, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and the Ministry of trade agribusiness and Industry, and Industry (MoTAI). It seeks to systematically identify, assess, and document viable investment opportunities across all 261 districts in Ghana. The ultimate goal is to promote balanced economic growth nationwide.

The initiative encompasses several key interventions:

▪️ Investment Opportunities Mapping: A nationwide exercise to identify and profile investment-ready prospects across Ghana’s districts.

▪️Regional Investment Roadshows: High-level forums designed to spotlight regional opportunities and encourage a more equitable distribution of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

▪️Tailored Investment Presentations: Focused sessions for Regional Ministers, MMDCEs, and traditional authorities to support local advocacy and promote viable Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) beyond Accra.

▪️Regional Expansion of GIPC Offices: A decentralization strategy aimed at improving accessibility, strengthening service delivery, and enabling real-time engagement with regional stakeholders.

Equatorial Coca-Cola to acquire Voltic and West African Refreshments

Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) have reached an agreement for ECCBC to acquire Voltic (GH) Limited (Voltic) and West African Refreshments Limited (WARL).

Voltic is a subsidiary of CCBA and WARL is a subsidiary of CCBA and of The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC).

The transaction will strengthen ECCBC’s position as a leading authorized bottler in the Coca-Cola system in Africa and will enable ECCBC to manage its expanded operations through an integrated beverage platform, enhancing its ability to serve the Ghanaian market more effectively and efficiently while delivering value to key stakeholders, including consumers, customers and suppliers.

As the authorized Coca-Cola bottler in 13 countries in North and West Africa, ECCBC has over 30 years of proud history, expertise and success on the continent. The company remains deeply committed to investing in local communities, producing and distributing locally and supporting economic growth.

ECCBC will be responsible for the preparation, packaging, distribution and sales of beverages under Coca-Cola’s trademarks in Ghana, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and Voltic.

CCBA, together with its subsidiaries (the CCBA Group), is the eighth largest Coca-Cola authorized bottler in the world by revenue, and accounts for over 40% of the volume of beverages bearing Coca-Cola brands sold in Africa.
